Upcoming Events

March 19-20 Horseshoe Bend, Daviston, AL.  A Living History Encampment on the site of the final battle of the Creek War of 1814.  We will go campaign style and set-up one large shebang.  This is a beautiful, remote and important historic site.  We enjoyed our time there immensely last year.  While there be sure to view the new movie on the battle, in which many of our members appear.

April 22-24 School of the Soldier 1812, Fort Massac, Metropolis, IL.  Look, up in the sky, it's a bird, no it's a plane, NO, it's drill til you drop.  Sponsored by our sister unit of the 1st Infantry.  This will be a total immersion school and a great way to hone your skills at a beautifully restored historic site along side some great folks.  Dave Bennett is putting this together.  For more information you can contact Dave at ebclemson@webtv.net .

3rd and 4th of July, The Hermitage, Nashville, TN.  We had an incredible time here last year and cannot wait to return!   A July 4th, 1815 Celebration at the home of Andrew Jackson outside Nashville, TN. We will be highlighting the end of the War of 1812, Jackson's Victory at New Orleans  and the emergence of the "Common Man".  Expect, the reading of The Declaration of Independence, Trooping of the Colors, Firing the National Salute, Speech Making, Games, an incredible meal and strolling in Rachel's Garden.  And the question that was unanswered from last year "Will General Jackson cane Judge Hardin?"...be there and find out!   This is an extremely important and high profile event.  Visit The Hermitage Web Page at www.thehermitage.com GOD BLESS OLD HICKORY!!!!

July 15-17 War of 1812 Grand Tactical, Ft. George, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont.  Have you ever wanted to sail on a tall ship, embark in long boats, be rowed ashore, land, form-up, assault and carry a formidable fortification?  Well than this is the event for you.  We will go campaign style.  Check out the following for continual updates. http://1812grandtactical.tripod.com/index.html

September 9-11 Ft. McHenry 1814. Defenders Day Baltimore, MD. This is the 191st anniversary  of the Siege of Ft. McHenry.  A fabulous event!  Sailing across the Inner Harbor.  Recreation of the bombardment, raising of the Star-Spangled Banner, fireworks and great seafood....but this year NO chariot races.

October 7-9  Mississinewa 1812. 1812-15 Marion, IN  The weather was picture perfect the last two years....possibly because Cynda couldn't attend.  This year she will be there so expect rain.  This is one of our favorites.  It has been expanded to a three day event.  Martin Lake is one of the best.  If you have yet to attend make the effort. You won't be disappointed.

November 2-5  Ft. Jackson. 1812  Wetumpka, AL.  This has been a great time over the last six years.  The site is beautiful.  Lots of participants (and over 3000 school kids a day!) in a timeline celebrating Alabama's early history--F&I through 1820.  The 7th garrisoned this post at the confluence of the Coosa, Tallapoosa and Alabama Rivers.

November 11-13 1835 Campaign Event, Fort Towson, OK.  This event is tentative right now, pending landowner approval.

December 31 - January 1st  Dade's Massacre 1835 Bushnell, FL.   We have been participating in this event since 1987.  It is a recreation of the battle which started the 2nd Seminole War.  We camp on the original battle site.  Always a good time and best of all FLORIDA in winter.

January 5-7   Battle of New Orleans, Chalmette, LA.  Maximum Effort!  This is the 191st Anniversary!  Join us on the Plains of Chalmette where in 1815 the 7th forever became "Cottonbalers By God!".  This years event will be 3 days.  There is an off-site battle on Saturday and nightly excursions to the French Quarter.  More information as it becomes available.
